Nickelshots

Welcome to my blog

Every photography assignment is as unique as the people involved & we have spent a long time wondering what makes us different to other photographers. And that's just it, our approach is based on individuals & their needs & not a formula or package. Yes we have a plan but this isn't scripted or rigid, because that's not what people are about. Things constantly change & we are always ready to move with the moment. We capture the emotion of the day rather than produce a catalogue of images. There is a difference & if you understand what I'm saying please get in touch.

Belle

Belle is another model who contacted me to update her portfolio. She was fantastic at communicating & was adaptable when the forecast of fine weather actually gave us showers which were set to stay for the duration of the shoot. As always, I had researched the site prior to meeting which allowed us to make use of the surroundings despite the rain. We got some fantastic images.

Gina

Gina is a friend of Sophie's & came along for support. She decided to get involved & give modelling a try. We worked on her poses, angles & expressions, which wasn't as easy as it sounds when the light was suggesting one angle but the wind had other ideas & blew her hair in the opposite direction. We had a lot of fun & produced some great images.

Sophie

On the way to witness the renewal of Sharon & John's vows we noticed a disused boat & it seemed like a great backdrop for a fashion shoot I had in mind, dreamy sunset feel. When I was contacted by Sophie to work with her on images to update her portfolio, the boat immediately sprang to mind. When we googled it to see whether it was accessible there was no sign of the boat but thought this was down to the google maps site. But when we arrived it proved that the boat was obviously not as abandoned as we had thought, it had gone.

Looking around for an alternative site we came across a fabulous field of sunflowers. Unfortunately she was unable to stay until sunset so I had to improvise with flashes & coloured gels. These are a selection of my favourites.

Something different

It was nice to be asked to work with Marilyn & Joe at Bodyline studio which has some great facilities. Great to be able to concentrate on achieving a Calvin Klein look, which she had asked for and to let them do their stuff.

Becky

Having enjoyed some nice weather we arranged an outdoor shoot. Guess what. Biting wind played havoc with the outfit Becky had wanted photographing but again she stuck it out to get some nice shots. Great to work with a hard working, uncomplaining attitude who knows her stuff and I look forward to seeing her in the future.

Jess

Another Derby model to visit us again was Jess. Terrific personality, great fun to work with, having lots of ideas of her own. Oh and she also plays the flute.

Alessandra

Derby Model Alessandra Brighenti contacted me for another shoot. We'd really enjoyed her attitude shooting in freezing conditions at Darley Abbey, so were more than happy for her to come to us in warmer climes. This is my favourite...

Alessandra

Recently we worked with Alessandra Brighenti who wanted some images to update her profile. She was a terrific, hard working model who braved the freezing temperatures & gaze of Sunday walkers in Allestree Park. These are a selection of my favourite images.
